ABOUT EWT

The Elements World Theatre (EWT) is a professional new writing company presenting new ways of looking at old myths, archetypes and cultural conflict.

Our productions often feature cross-cultural collaborations and the merging of diverse art forms and styles of storytelling, poetry, dance and music.

The company has presented new work in local, national and international festivals including the Edinburgh International Festival of Middle-Eastern Spirituality and Peace (MESP), the Biggar Little Festival; the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival; and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

EWT is dedicated to presenting thought provoking, intimate and moving theatre that is sometimes controversial and always as beautiful to see as it is meaningful to experience.

“The Elements World Theatre is an experience as much as a show, though performed with great skill. It’s challenging conventional ideas of theatre and opening up stories and big ideas.” Donald Smith, Director, Scottish Storytelling Centre.

MESSAGES FROM A MENTAL INSTITUTION

62944-Elements-A3PSS-Poster-WEB (2) (2)Strange messages from a Woman’s missing husband spark her heroic quest to find his true identity and rescue him from a mental institution. Is he the man she thinks he is? Does he even exist?

Presented in an absurd, surreal style, the play is a humorous multi-layered experience of reality where the boundaries between dreaming and waking life dissolve. “You’re getting all upset about a man who may not even exist and may not even be your husband. But I’m flesh and blood. I exist right here and now, making an offer you can’t refuse.”

This production premiered in the 2014 Dream Up Festival of Theatre for the New City, Off Off Broadway theatre in New York City.

By Lee Gershuny

Directed by Corinne Harris with James Bryce
